Research and education

The University of Tromsø, Nofima, the Norwegian Polar Institute, the Northern Research Institute, Akvaplan-niva and the Institute of Marine Research are leading national and international players in their respective areas, with internationally strong positions within biomarine research.

The University of Tromsø includes educational programs in biomarine science and biomedicine. In biomarine science, the University of­fers educational programs in marine biotechnology and bioprospecting, aquamedicine and seafood science, in addition general biology.
